1a World Book School Edition Starting with World Book Kids (I LOVE World Book Kids!) I chose Science Projects, Floating Liquids, any K-5 class would learn from this or older kids helping younger kids. With few ingredients and non-toxic, unless allergic, also low-budget cost. Bringing up "Maps and More" Interactive maps are always fun and can include the younger kids, the 5th graders could use masking tape over cities or capitals removing the tape when guessing correctly. Long ago it was a geographic lesson in my 5th grade class, it was a great exercise.
World Book Student (Grade 5-9) Choosing "Explore" the maps were similar in nature as the world maps in World Book School Edition, but the maps are a great learning tool for any age. "Behind the Headlines" Hyperlinks to definitions and photographs. 'Seeing a Blackhole' popped out at me as I had recently taken a phone call from a elderly patron about discovery of a black hole.
World Book Advanced (Grade 9-12+) Bringing up "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" clicking and locating Back in Time Articles give insight. I didn't have much luck with other titles.
World Book Discover Going into the Visual Dictionary, animal kingdom, reptiles and then dinosaurs. So much information on all levels. I didn't notice it, but it would be fascinating if the end result (dinosaur) would move or emit sounds when moused over.
1b World Book Public Library Edition World Book Online Kids (K-5) Entering "Games & Activities" Hands on, click on any word or animal, locate articles which you can hear words, print off articles or compare to other animals. I chose the ant, which in the article also gave me the anatomy. Very creative imagination.
World Book Online InfoFinder (Grades 5-9) Looked at oth "World Book Explores Virtual Tours" and "Interactive Earth", I liked virtual tours best of the two. From historical to unusual places, something for everyone. If I would have spent more time in both, I'm sure, each has much to offer.
World Book Online Reference Center (Grades 9-adult) Typing in Jane Austen's Emma, I didn't note any primary sources as I did for The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Similar in nature to World Book Advanced. As e-books are so in our face, patrons could locate a number of sources through this and use for a variety of projects.
1c World Book Foreigh Language Edition Barrier which is good, it puts me in the shoes of a Spanish seeking person diving into the ever complicated English language. Typing in "house" as requested and locating 8 articles, clicking onto an article gave side bar information. Clicking on an article also give option of hearing words and email article. Thankful for images when browsing, locating more photo's in sidebar and articles. As for using the search box or browse feature I think depends on age of person and comprehending the language. Photo's would be quicker in my instance to get search responses. Spanish a beautiful language and music, interesting to pick up words. Good lesson onward to lesson 2.

My apologies for the color scheme, not intended. Trying to fix at no avail. Bn
Hi, PubPlace, no worries about color scheme or formatting. Sometimes blogger takes over & thinks it is the boss! Thanks for your thorough review of World Book. You made some good finds. The Public and School editions are very similar in article content for each age group, as you noticed, and there are some differences in the special features available. Thanks for getting started so well!
